Irlen Syndrome or visual stress is estimated to affect 10—12% of the population.
It is different to dyslexia but the impacts of both are similar and can be confused.
We offer every student who works with us a quick, practical, and effective assessment as to whether a coloured reading screen support their reading.
We use eye level reading rulers which have been developed in the UK and are recognised by the Dyslexia Association. There is a selection of 10 different colours and the students simply choose the optimum one for them. They are about the size of a small ruler so they can fit snugly into a pencil case and can be used as a bookmark. The student have the choice as to whether they use them as a general coloured overlay or as a more specific reader ruler.
